Nepal Panorama with Annapurna Trek - 15 days

Home to ten of the world’s 14 highest mountains, Nepal offers a magnificent setting for students travel abroad program. The natural beauty with forested hiking trails, rivers and streams, green lush valleys and hillside villages on the lap of the Himalayas offers self-nurture and understanding of cultural and environmental sustainability. The people of Nepal are well known for their kindness, friendliness and hospitality. Their ability to stay calm in hard times and worry-free and jolly nature is very motivational for all.

This trip is one of the best trips for students to experience the unique Himalayan culture and traditions along with a pleasant trekking at the foothills of the Himalayas. The trek is in the most beautiful Annapurna region in Nepal, which is the land of cultural, ethnic and geographical diversity. The tour starts with visiting UNESCO sites in Kathmandu and volunteering at a school. Then the students will take a scenic drive to Pokhara followed by trek through picturesque villages and valleys, staying at local lodges, mixing with the people and their unique way of life and enjoying the breathtaking scenery. The trekking region is also home to the world famous brave Gurkha soldiers. The tour is combined with colorful Lake City Pokhara, hill town Tansen, Lumbini – the birthplace of Buddha and diversed Chitwan National Park. Overall the trip is a unique blends of natural, cultural, spiritual and jungle experiences.

Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrive in Kathamndu
Arrive in Kathamndu (1350m / 4430ft): Welcome to Nepal! On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport you will be greeted by Happy Feet representative and transferred to your hotel. Then, you will be briefed about your program. Venture out if time permits. Later, head to a local restaurant for a Welcome Dinner.

Day 02 : Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Guided sightseeing to UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu: The rich tapestry of the cultural heritage of Nepal is synthesized in Kathmandu Valley, representing elegant architecture, refined culture, colorful bazaars and simple hospitable people.
After breakfast, the tour begins with walking through core inner Kathmandu streets and courtyards of Kathmandu which will give insight into the way of life of Kathmandu people. Then visit the World Heritage site of Kathmandu Durbar Square that showcases the finest art and architecture of traditional Nepali temples, palaces and courtyards. Ride on a Rickshaw (tricycle) through a colorful local market and to the hotel.
After lunch, take a short drive to Pashupatinath - One of the holiest and most revered Hindu shrines in Nepal and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. It is also the most popular cremation site of Nepal where every Hindu wishes to be cremated when they die. Pashupatinath is a place of powerful insight. Lastly, visit the Soyambhunath stupa on a hillock overlooking Kathmandu valley. Well known as ‘Monkey Temple’ the golden spire crowning, Soyambhunath is the most ancient and mystical of all the holy shrines in Kathmandu valley.

Day 03 : Volunteering in Kathmandu
Today you will visit a school or a social organization in Kathmandu, where you will gain insight into the immense difference between facilities that are taken for granted in developed countries and the minimal facilities available in developing countries. You will interact with students, teachers or volunteers and do some volunteer work such as painting, cleaning etc.

Day 04 : Drive to Pokhara
Drive to Pokhara (850m / 2790ft): A scenic 6 hours’ drive passing through several small towns and farm lands will take you to Lake City Pokhara where eye opening views of Himalayas welcome you. Nestled beneath the Himalayas, the lush natural beauty of Pokhara contrasts with Fewa Lake and Mountain View. Because of its tranquil lakes, natural beauty and superb scenery, Pokhara is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Nepal. Walk around the colorful lake side in the afternoon.

Day 05 : Trek to Astamkot
Drive to Milanchok (860m / 2820ft) / trek to Astamkot (1500m / 4920ft) / 3 hours trek: After a short drive for about 25 minutes to the town of Milan Chowk, the hike begins with gradual uphill through the forest with views across the Mardi Khola (river). Today’s entire walk is uphill through the forest which takes about 3 hours in gradual pace with breaks. Once you arrive at Astamkot, you will be amazed by 360-degree views of the entire Pokhara, Hemja, and Mardi valley with backdrop majestic views of the Himalayas. It is also one of the most spectacular places to view a sunset and sunrise in the Himalayas. After lunch, walk along the village to get an insight into rural village life of Brahman and Chhetri people living in these mid-hills for generations.

Day 06 : Trek to Dhampus
Trek to Dhampus (1700m / 5580ft) / 4 hours walk: Today’s walk to Dhampus is very pleasant with breathtaking views of the Himalayas on the right and valleys on the left. The trek begins with climbing stone staircases about 1 ½ hours. In about 4 hours’ medium pace walk, you will reach at the beautiful village of Dhampus. Situated on a ridge with breathtaking views of the Himalayas, Dhampus is a beautiful Gurung village with stone houses. Walk around the village after lunch.

Day 07 : Trek to Landruk
Trek to Landruk (1620m / 5315ft) / 5 hours walk: Walk through a beautiful forest passing the village of Pothana where your Annapurna Conservation Area permit is checked. Then you will walk on a gravel path with switchbacks to the village of Tolka. From Tolka, the trail is almost level and passes through beautiful hamlets and fields. Landruk is a picturesque village above the Modi River with close up views of Annapurna and Fish Tail mountains.

Day 08 : Trek to Ghandruk
Trek to Ghandruk (2000m / 6560ft) / 4 hours walk: From Landruk, the trail makes a steep descent through terraced fields to Modi River. Crossing the river on a suspension bridge, the train climbs all the way to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is one of the most beautiful villages of Nepal. It is a village of ethnic Gurung people and home of brave Gurkha soldiers. After lunch, explore the village.

Day 09 : Drive to Pokhara
Drive to Pokhara / 2 hours’ drive: From Ghandruk, the drive is downhill on a graveled road to Nayapool. From Nayapool, the drive is on a paved road to Pokhara. After check -in at the hotel and lunch, go boating on Fewa Lake, visit Peace Stupa and the International Mountain Museum.

Day 10 : Drive to Tansen
Drive to Tansen (1350m / 4430ft): After breakfast, a scenic drive of about 4 hours will take you to Tansen. Situated at the lap of Srinagar Hill, Tansen is a beautiful summer resort of Nepal with spectacular views of mountains and valleys. The place is famous for its cultural heritage and traditions. After lunch, you will take a pleasant walk to Srinagar Hill and the colorful Tansen Bazaar.

Day 11 : Drive to Lumbini
Drive to Lumbini (150m / 490ft): Drive downhill to the flat land called Tarai, which is the breadbasket of Nepal. After check-in at the hotel and lunch, visit Maya Devi Temple, Asoka pillar, monasteries, Peace Stupa and practice a short meditation. Lumbini is the place where the Buddha (enlightened one) was born. It is the place where one can experience peace regardless of any religion or faith. The Buddha’s teachings are as applicable today as they were. A visit to Lumbini offers peaceful and positive vibes, develop understanding of interdependence, love and compassion.

Day 12 : Drive to Chitwan National Park
Drive to Chitwan National Park (100m / 330ft): Take a beautiful drive on flat and fertile land of southern Nepal passing through highway towns. It is about a 3 ½ hours’ drive to Chitwan National Park.

You will stay two nights at Chitwan village at the border of Chitwan National Park. These two days Chitwan package provides different jungle activities such as jungle safari, boat ride, jungle walk, bird watching, tribal dance program, visiting tribal Tharu village etc. The activities will be in groups.

Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal established in 1973 to preserve a unique ecosystem significantly valuable to the whole world. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the last populations of one-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and home of the Bengal tiger.

Note: During monsoon and post monsoon (mid-June / July to mid Oct) Jeep safaris are not permitted to conduct by park authority due to slippery and muddy roads. Usually the monsoon ends from mid-September and Jeep Safari opens from the beginning of October, but depends upon the road condition. Alternate activities are provided during this period.
